• In 957 the Children cast their eyes on Altara, but Illian and Murandy came to her aid, adopting a 'Forward Defence' policy.

  Niall won the great majority of the battles, indeed capturing Martin Stepaneos at the Battle of Soremaine.

• The year 965NE saw Laman Damodred take the throne of Cairhien.
• War resumed between Andor and Cairhien to continue with only a minor break until 968.
• Illian and Tear went to war once more in 970 and the hostilities lasted almost six years.
• Tigraine disappeared in 972.
• The Aiel War.
  • In the late spring of 976 tens of thousands of Aiel came sweeping over the Dragonwall.
  • Four clans participated in the execution - these were, the Nakai, the Reyn, the Taardad and the Shaarad.
  • War spread down through Tear, back up the River Erinin to Andor, and finally , three years after the Aiel had crossed the Dragonwall, to Tar Valon itself.
  • The Battle of Tar Valon, also called the Battle of the Shining Walls, the Battle of the Nations, the Battle of the Red Snows, and the Battle of the Blood Snow, began in the Year of Grace 978 of the New Era
  • The Aiel fought the Grand Coalition, also called the Grand Alliance, although a few have called it "The Third Compact", a term for which there is no basis in fact.

  • Aiel - presumed figure of 100k men, but actually 70 to 80k spears.
  • During the Aiel 'retreat' there were a number of skirmishes, some of which were in truth quite large, and they recurred at irregular intervals for twenty days.
• By the spring of 979 Fourth War of Cairhienin Succession.
• Taringail Damodred assassinated in 984.

• In the autumn of 997 in Ghealdan, a man known as Logain Ablar declared himself the Dragon Reborn.

  After carrying war across Ghealdan, Altara, and Murandy, Ablar was finally captured by a loose alliance of southern nations and taken to the White Tower where he was gentled.
